Every year, as we say goodbye to one and welcome another with holly jolly cheer and anticipation for what is to come, I look forward to setting goals for the new year. There are goals that I smash, and there are goals that I abandon like a one night stand in college never to be seen or heard from again. But one thing that does stick is the theme of for the year.
2015 was a year of firsts as Tim and I embarked on our first year as Mr. and Mrs.
2016 was a year of growth as we both took on new challenges.
2017 was the year of adventure when we decided to leave Florida.
2018 was the year of blooming and being the best versions of ourselves we could be.
And 2019 will be the year of wellness. I am now 30 and I won’t let my 20’s be my prime (read: I have no peaked yet, yo!)
Things I want to accomplish in 2019
Consistently eat well. No more donuts and chocolates at the office.
I have a huge sweet tooth so one of the hardest things for me is to skip the sweets, something my office is never in a shortage of. I want to be more conscious of my relationship with some foods- sugar is at the top of that list.
Work out in the mornings and start the day off right.
With 20+ years of research on the subject, I can say with certainty that working out in the mornings adds hours to my days. Working out at night? Not so much. I want to make it an active part of my day to start with a workout or physical activity of some sort.
Become a morning person and put my late night owl habits to bed.
I have often joked that Tim and I have completely different schedules. I am the night owl of the pair. Like, 4 AM might night oil runs and I can run on less than 5 hours of sleep. So, 2019 is the year I become a morning person.
Read more. The classics, the new books that catch my eye… just read more.
Every year I say I want to read more. Some years I read more than others, some years I barely finish a handful of books. At the end of the year, no matter how many books I read, I always wish I read more.
Post about the health and wellness journey of 2019 in case somewhere someone gives a shit about my life and what I do.
When I first started CW, it was mainly to journal about our travels but I find myself wanting to write about more than just where we go and what we do. Especially since we’ve moved to Tennessee… So expect to see more on the blog. New year, new things!
What are you setting out to accomplish in the new year? I’d love to hear!
