Finding French food outside of France is an easy thing to do. Finding GOOD French food? Not always the case. And a good crepe is even harder to find this side of the puddle. But sometimes, you get lucky. Sometimes you come across a gem so delicious that you instantly get transported somewhere.
Paris Bistro Sarasota
Sarasota is a town full of arts and culture that also has a great selection of dining options. From downtown to St. Armand’s Circle, Sarasota’s cuisine scene has inspirations from all over the world and is celebrated yearly with Savor Sarasota Week. We have so many amazing restaurants here that we really should be considered a foodie town and join the likes of San Fran and Chicago. Of all the delicious culinary choices I have at my fingertips, Paris Bistro is one of my top choices.
Paris Bistro is located in Lakewood Ranch on Main Street, the neighborhoods shopping district filled with restaurants, shops, and things to do. Found behind a tiny store front, the moment you walk the sounds of Paris greet you.
One of my favorite things about this adorable little is how authentic the food is! A few years ago when I went to visit a friend in Paris I was able to have some of the best food of my life, so to say that I have a high standard for French food is an understatement. But, I am happy to say that Paris Bistro never disappoints! From my go to starter (the cheese plate) to my ever favorite (the green buckwheat crepe) I could seriously eat here every day. The hardest part of eating here is picking desert. ALWAYS. With so many amazing choices (NUTELLA!!!! WHAT?!) it feels sacrilegious to just pick one.
I love cheese and the cheese plate is always the first thing I order. There is just something about good fresh French bread and beautiful cheese that makes my heart sing. And sing it does every time. What follows is the amazing Green buckwheat crepe filled with Spinach, Gorgonzola, sour cream! Another favorite is Country buck (Prosciutto, Gorgonzola, sour cream, walnuts), what is not to love?
And for dessert you can’t make a bad choice but my choice last time we visited was a Nutella filled plate of deliciousness. Another great choice is the Normandie crepe filled with pear, sugar flambe with Cognac. Be warned though that if you have a sweet tooth like me self-control required so that you don’t order one of each.
Paris Bistro is one of the best restaurants in Sarasota, so next time you are looking for a place to eat or you find yourself missing the tastes of France stop by. I promise you won’t regret it! If anything you will be upset you didn’t do it sooner. And if this post has you feeling extra nostalgic about the land of Crepes and the Louvre, jam out to the Paris Cafe inspired playlist below. We’ve got you back, cher ami!
