Our dogs, Rocky and Kona, are a big part of our lives. We take them on vacation and travel with our pets as much as we can. And early on in our travels, we realized that there were a lot of places that were dog-friendly cities but there were also some we thought would be super pro-doggo but weren’t. So, we’re counting down the top 10 most dog-friendly cities in the United States.
Dog-Friendly Cities
If your dog, like Rocky and Kona, is a part of your travel group grab a bone, pack the chewy toys, and head to one of these dog-friendly cities!
Arlington, Virginia
If you’re headed near D.C. opt for staying in Arlington. Across the Potomac River on the Virginia side of things, there are eight dog parks for your pooch to get to know the city! Arlington also has numerous dog-friendly restaurants and cafes that welcome fido with open paws.
Tampa, Florida
Looking for a sunny getaway with beach days? Tampa is where it is at for both you and your doggo! Davis Island Dog Beach and Picnic Island Beach Dog Park allow dogs to run free and splash in the water. And if you’re wanting to grab a beer after your day in the sand, head to c.1949 for a brew in the garden party with your pup.

Minneapolis, Minnesota
The Twin Cities have an overwhelming amount of options for you and your dog. From parks to farmer’s markets to breweries and from boutiques to cool patios, dogs seem to always be welcome here! If you head to Minneapolis, you and your dog can explore the town and take in the sites.
Colorado Springs, Colorado
Colorado is a dream come true for nature enthusiasts. If your dog is your hiking buddy, Colorado Springs should be your next destination! For a completely dog-friendly place look to spend some time at Bear Creek Dog Park, with more than 10 acres your pooch will have the time of their life! You can also head to Cheyenne Mountain State Park or the scenic Broadmoor Seven Falls for other dog-friendly trails.
West Hollywood, California
West Hollywood is one of the best neighborhoods in LA for pups! There are parks with special K9 approved fake turf and specially designed water fountains. There are also a number of pet-friendly restaurants in town like Flavor of India for those who want to get down with curries and Smith & Tait for something oh so LA like ala Tumeric latte.

Seattle, Washington
It seems like the PNW loves dogs and Seattle is keeping it up in Washington! While it might seem like an unlikely destination there are actually more dogs than kiddos within Seattle’s city limits. There are 14 off-leash areas in the city so your pup will have a tail waggin’ good time! Magnuson Park is a favorite with nine acres of green space to explore and a dog beach along Lake Washington so pack your pup’s lifejacket if you have a front-heavy one like Rocky our French Bulldog.
Dallas, Texas
The dogs have Texas-sized fun in Dallas! There are a number of open-air patios that are dog-friendly where you can wine and dine with your pup. Don’t forget to check out White Rock Lake that has over 9 miles of trails for you to take an extra-long walk and enjoy the day.

Jersey City, New Jersey
The Big Apple might not always be the most dog-friendly place but just across the Hudson is a different story! Check out one of the many dog-friendly restaurants and cafes in Jersey City and don’t forget there are a number of boutiques and shops too that are pro-pup in town.
Portland, Oregon
Portland isn’t just for hipsters! The city has stayed weird AND dog-friendly with dogs being welcome in bars. Needless to say, the number of dog-friendly places in Portland are a dime a dozen so you’re sure to have a good time when you visit.

Phoenix, Arizona
With Arizona’s heat patio days might be out of the question for you and your pup. But the good news is that they are welcome inside many establishments in town! You can enjoy the AC with your pooch all over town but some local favorites are Tres Leches Cafe and The Dressing Room for smoothies, burgers, or tacos!

Definitely look up Charlotte, NC! So many breweries that are dog friendly as well as a bunch of parks, forests and mountains!!
Yes! Charlotte is up there in dog-friendliness too and is one of our favorite places to visit. Maybe we need to meet up there, Becks… Miss you!
